King’s X?
Precinct One Constable Gary Griffin is headed back to the courtroom as a defendant (well, if one must be picky about it, as the plaintiff) this time.
To refresh your memory: last summer the ornery constable had a very public snit fit and told dispatchers he wasn’t going to serve mental health warrants any more (take that!!). So, the Commissioner’s Court said “Okey dokie”, and transferred his mental health unit - locks, stocks, and gun barrels - over to the Sheriff’s Office.
Oops, that wasn’t supposed to happen! So, the ornery one went and got hisself a high priced lawyer from Austin (nanny, nanny boo boo). After the ensuing legal battle was over, County Attorney Jana Duty prevailed over former Travis County Judge Bill Aleshire.
But, you can’t keep a good lawyer down. The ornery one is going back to court yet again, with former disgraced dimocrat Attorney General Jim Mattox on his side. His claim is now that there must have been a Commissioner’s Court conspiracy to do him in.
Oh boo hoo hoo. The problem with giving an ultimatum is that you are all stuck out if the receiving side calls your bluff, refuses to negotiate, takes all their marbles, and goes home….Suck it up Griffin. While you’re at it - quit sticking the taxpayers with the tab for your frivolous lawsuits.
