Rumors!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Harvey Kronberg, the genius behind the Quorum Report, just posted another press release from Jim Keffer (r-Eastland), who tossed his shorts into the Speaker’s race just after the Primary elections.

Keffer has some strange bedfellows in his quest for Speakerdom - Sifronia Thompson (d-houston), Greg Eiland (d-Galveston), and Craddick BFF (some say stalking horse) Sylvester Turner (d-houston) to name a few.

Here at Wilco Wise, we haven’t pulled any punches aimed at Craddick.  We think it’s waaaaay past time someone else gets to crash at the Capitol Crib on the taxpayer dime.

Turning Out

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

According to CNN, early voter turnout in the 15 most populated areas of Texas is 2,069,331 or 24.5% of active registered voters.

To give you some perspective, that’s more voters than the entire population of some other states - like Delaware, Idaho, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Neuvo Hampshire, Neuvo Mexico, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Early turnout elsewhere around these United States is pretty interesting:

California  2,172,340  (12.7%); Idaho  126,350 (16.7%); Indiana  366,143 (8.1%); Montana 99,825 (15.1%); Nebraska 11,140 (9.8%); Arkansas 200,784; Florida 1,404,897; Georgia 1,387,145; Kansas 183,326; North Dakota 63,745; Tennessee 1,105,980.

You’ve got until Friday to vote early.

W = Waste

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

We went to see the movie “W” so y’all wouldn’t have to.

We admit our expectations weren’t very high to begin with.  At best, it failed to come anywhere near meeting our near non-existant expectations.  At worst, it is an excreable waste of celluloid.

It’s two hours of our lives we will never get back.

Horsefeathers

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Paul Burka over at Texas Monthly found an interesting election outcome predictor.  According to his latest post on Burkablog, the math goes something like this:  You figure out each party’s primary turnout and the percentage of votes cast for Obama.  Whichever number is highest wins.  Kinda like the OK corral, when the bad guys outnumber the good guys, you’re toast.

Burka figured out a couple of races, but we don’t give two hoots of a rat’s a$$ about those races.  We care mostly about Wilco races.  Being mathematically challenged, we encourage y’all to do your own math and see what you come up with.

There were 212,019 registered voters in Wilco.  Of those 212,019 potential voters, a mere 28,916 or 13.6% cast their votes in the republican primary and 49,490 or 23.3% cast their votes in the dimocrat primary.  Obama got 27,980 or 56.40% of the votes in the dimocrat primary.  Big whoop.

According to this new fangled formula, Bryan Daniel in HD 52 is in some trouble, as is Baby Boy Gattis over in HD 20.

Bull cookies. Not gonna happen.

Battle Stations

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Here in Wilco World, we don’t worry much about the dimocrat landslide here in the Great State of Texas  — not with McPalin showing a 57% to 38% lead over O’Biden.  Don’t see as how O’Biden has any coattails either.  Heck, we don’t see him even wearing a coat, much less a bomber jacket like Ike did (if you don’t get the reference - google it up or ask your grandparents).

It takes 270 electoral votes to win.  The dimocrats are claiming they got 264 of them already sewed up.  According to the dimocrats, we ought to just bend over give up and stay home.  Why would any red-blooded, right-thinking republican believe what a lyin’ liberal dimocrat says?

We see some new battle ground states this time around.  Like Colorado. With 9 electoral votes up for grabs - it is a dead heat at 44% each.  Call your friends that live there and tell them to get their red votin’ selves to the polls.

Here is some more territory worth fighting for:

Georgia - 15 electoral votes - 49% McPalin to 46% O’Biden

Indiana - 11 electoral votes - 51% McPalin to 46% O’Biden

Louisiana - 9 electoral votes - 50% McPalin to 43% O’Biden

Missouri - 11 electoral votes - 49% McPalin to 46% O’Biden

Montana - 3 electoral votes  - 50% McPalin  45% O’Biden

Now, the lyin’ liberals are also sayin’ that Florida, Ohio, and Michigan have all turned blue.  We don’t think this is anywhere near close to the truth and neither should you.

We understand that those O’Biden states are all counting on a huge dead voter turnout.  We don’t lend much credence to that, seein’ as how it’s kind of hard to poll the departed that are still voting amongst us.  We do know there’s a couple of ways of figuring out if someone’s crossed over to the other side - and we’re not talking red to blue here.

We’ve got plenty of room in our jails for dead voters.  They’re real cheap inmates, too - they don’t eat much, don’t need any medical or dental care, and don’t have any standing to file any writs.

Count down

Monday, October 13th, 2008

We’ve been too busy with other things to post much lately.  For that, we are sorry.  Since the deadline to register to vote has come and gone, here are some very important dates to put on your calendar:

October 15 - Final Presidential Debate.  It’s your last chance for all the fence post sittin’ republicans RINO to fall off on the right side of the fence.  If you’re still on the fence post RINO, it’s ‘cuz RINO you stuck it RINO somewhere RINO we can’t say in front of the little ones.

October 20 - Early Voting begins.  We encourage everyone to vote on the first day of early voting.  We’re not predicting massive voter fraud, we are expecting it.  Just like your identity, your vote can be stolen.  If you want to protect your vote, go vote the very first thing on the very first day of early voting.

October 28 - Deadline to apply for ballots by mail.  If you can’t physically make it to the polls, you can vote by mail.  If you didn’t request a mail ballot and one shows up in your mailbox, be very afraid.  Most dead voters choose to vote by mail ballot.

October 31 - Early voting ends.  Trick or Treat, y’all.

November 4 - Election day.  If you want to watch all the returns, better plan to sleep in on the 5th. It’s going to be a looooong night.
