What’s your sign?

Monday, January 30th, 2006

This just in!! Our first tip. On January 26, a campaign volunteer called the number posted on the political billboard by the entrance to Sun City. After passing the republicans-only litmus test, the volunteer was given a sales pitch about costs and the like. After all that, they finally asked which campaign was requesting space on the billboard. When informed it was for Lisa David, a candidate for District Clerk, the backpedalling began. Why, golly gee wiz, now that we think about it, there’s just no more room for you on our little ol’ billboard. So, we drove out there & took a photo. Judge for yourself:

FYI, the billboard managers are supporting David’s opponent.

Hope Floats

It’s not only the dimocrats writing hot checks for filing fees these days. Chris Mealy, republican candidate for Williamson County County Court-at-Law #4, wrote a rubber check, too. The republican party county chairman, Bill Fairbrother, asked the Secretary of State for a ruling and then tossed Mealy off the ticket. Mealy’s campaign touted the fact he “drafted ‘Hot Check Legislation’” and wrote the book on prosecuting hot checks. Guess he forgot that the “float” is no more…Mealy once served on the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles and was the vote that released Kenneth McDuff from prison after McDuff’s first death sentence was commuted to life - thanks to the Supreme’s Furmann v Georgia decision. Gotta give the guy some credit, though. Mealy has said he is going to apologize to his supporters and return his campaign contributions.

These boots are made for walking

Things were hoppin’ in Hutto Friday night at the Candidate’s Forum at Hutto High.  Upon introduction Rep Krusee was loudly booed by a lone Samuelson supporter.  This caused no end of embarassment to an officious Hutto official, who attempted to subdue the supporter.  The sartorially clad Samuelson heckled Krusee from the sidelines, but Krusee kept on talking the party line on toll roads and taxes.  She continued to heckle him as he left the venue, but he kept on walking.  Can’t fault her enthusiasm and passion, but speaking of walking, her mini skirt and boots should take a hike.

Are you ready to rumble…

The football season is nearly over and the political season is just starting. What could be more fun than that? At least in football, if you’re caught breaking the rules, there is a penalty. I personally prefer the time outs of hockey. Really twists up your teammates who have to struggle on without you. Like politics, hockey can knock your teeth out if you don’t pay attention & also teaches you not to get caught…. or lawyer up really, really, really good if you do.

Happy New Year

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

Finally, a new year’s resolution worth keeping. Like bellybuttons, everybody has at least one opinion, and most of them are full of lint. We decided to let our political lint hang out & set up this blog. We pick on republicans because there just aren’t too many dimocrats up here in Williamson County. If we can ever find one, they are fair game, too.If you’ve got a tip for us, email it to dwezer@gmail.com. When we get around to it, we’ll either check it out or post it or ignore it or some combination thereof.  If you don’t like what we write, just go pound sand. There are plenty of other blogs out there - some of which are prettier and wittier.
